Traditional Wedding Cakes

Nice and sweet, the wedding cake is as popular for the party, as white dress for the bride and boys’ meeting for the groom. In fact, it is one of the basic symbols of innocence and purity. First wedding dress made in white colors for created for Queen Victoria in 1840, and pretty soon it became a great tradition followed till nowadays.
This was the fresh start of the wedding dress tradition, and since the dress was white, it was clear the cake should match the gown perfectly. Thus most traditional cakes are white and have three or four tiers.

We can see either two figures on top, symbolizing the bride and the groom, or some special topping, usually made in a form of flowers. Traditional decorations are buttercream scrolls and sometimes sugar flowers. The whole construction of the cake can be simple or creative; still all the cakes have something in common, standing them out of among the other cakes. These cakes seem to appear the same day the first marriage had been, thus nowadays we can not imagine the wedding without a cake.

You can see the pictures of traditional and classic wedding cakes on our site. Most of them suit perfectly for the ceremony of any size.
